Proprietary Trading Jobs

To be a proprietary trader you must have a gift for markets and an eager desire for trade. Not to mention a fair amount of schooling in the trade. Most students, upon finishing school can find proprietary trading internships within companies. During intern students can get the exposure they need in market making & risk arbitrage.

During an interview for a proprietary trading firm, you`ll want to dress for success with professional attire. Confidence is key and you`ll need to be ready to prove that you have a very thorough understanding of the financial markets, technical analysis, financial models, as well as excellent mathematical skills.

Once hired as a professional proprietary trader your responsibilities will vary based on the company, the business and your main functions within the company. You could be responsible for valuation arbitrage trading, strategies, assessment management, order execution of equities and/or having a hand in the development of trading applications.

Most companies will put their newly hired traders through intensive training over a probation period in which you`ll learn the ins and outs of how they conduct their business, practices, goals and the tools available to you. As with internship, you may start in a simulated market environment and move into real-time trading proving your consistency and profitability.
